Making the Most of your eBay Store RSS Feed

Here's a simple tutorial on how to make the most of your eBay store RSS feed............

eBay provides eBay store owners with this powerful tool, so why not make the most of it? It's free and how you promote it is free also. Keep reading......................

eBay makes an RSS feed of your most recently listed items. the simple trick is to list something in your store every few days. try to list no less than 20 items every few days.

Login to your eBay account, go to My eBay, click on Manage My Store.

Choose Listing Feeds from the left hand menu. When it brings up the page, at the RSS feeds section, choose "distribute your listings via RSS" then click APPLY.

Choose View My Store. Scroll down to the bottom and you will see an orange box with the letters RSS in it. Click on it. In your browser bar, right click on the URL that comes up, it starts like this:

http://rss.api.ebay.com/.......

Once you right click on it, choose Copy. You may want to copy it to Notepad so you don't lose it.

Next, login to or create an account with Feedburner.com (it's free)

Click on my feeds at the top of the page. Choose burn a feed (you only have to do this once). In the empty box paste the URL of your eBay store RSS feed that you copied. Give it a name and follow the rest of the guided instructions. Feedburner keeps everything fairly simple and easy.

After the feed is burned and named, you'll be at your "Dashboard". If you are not sure you are there, just click on Dashboard and you'll go there.

Choose the Optimize tab at the top. Of the services offered, choose "Browser Friendly". Then choose "Clear Feed" from the dropdown box and activate this service.

From the left hand column, choose "Smart Feed". Activate this service.

Click the Publicize tab at the top. From the left hand column, choose Pingshot. Choose as many default services as possible, and also be sure to choose at least 5 of the additional services. Activate this service as well.

Back to the left hand column. Choose "Chicklet Chooser". Keep it simple for your customers, website and eBay store visitors ~ simply choose one of the two standard icons then copy the HTML that is generated in the box below. Again, you may want to paste this into a Notepad file as well to save the HTML for future copying.

Then logout.

Paste this HTML everywhere!!!!!!!! Seriously DON'T paste it on people's windshields in the parking lot! :) But DO paste it on your eBay About Me page, in your email siggie if it accepts HTML, in all your Forum Siggies if it HTML is allowed, on every page of your website, in your blog template, and anywhere you can "legally" post HTML.

Folks DO subscribe to these things. It's catching on, albeit slowly, but you really can't afford to pass up on such great free advertising for your eBay store!

Where to find the Hottest Items on Ebay A Short Guide

Occasionally I come across an ebayer who is looking for hot items on ebay. One way to measure "hottness" is the way ebay does. This is done via the ebay watch list. Everytime you click the watch link to put a listing in your watch list on your my ebay page it has the potential to be listed on what is known as the Ebay Pulse. You can access the Ebay Pulse at eBay Pulse

The Ebay Pulse is compromised of the most watched items on Ebay. On the front page of the Pulse you will find the most watched items from all of Ebay. To see more items that are listed on the pulse you will find on the top left of the page a pull down menu for all the categories on ebay. You can use that to browse all the pulse listings. The listings change all the time depending on the number of watchers for any given listing.

On the Ebay Pulse you will also find the most popular searches & largest stores for each eBay Pulse Category
